The Main Causes Of Sciatic Nerve Inflammation

The Main Causes Of Sciatic Nerve Inflammation

Author: Jim Fillsons

I experienced some very annoying sciatic nerve pain a few years ago, and it nearly knocked me out of my game. In fact, I could barely function at work; and I have a desk job! But where does sciatica come from and how do we get it? Is there a way to get rid of it without worrying about medical bills and long bouts of physical therapy?

For the most part, people who have sciatica will tend to complain of a shooting pain down their backside, down the leg and into the heal. Some folks feel the pain running deeper, while others feel it just in certain areas, but it is always on the back side. Some people also say that they experience numbing or even tingling that radiates down the back end. It can always get worse with stress.

Sciatica is commonly caused by the bad practice that had been obtained all through the years. These practices include bad sleeping habits, muscle straining, bad posture, and incorrect lifting method. Each of these bad habits create tensions in the body and as time went by it can develop into chronic conditions which could upset the lower back and begin inflaming the Sciatic nerve. Most complaints centering around and causing Sciatic nerve pain are the compression of the nerve itself. Other causes of sciatica are: tumors, pregnancy, and child birth.

In most patients, the sciatic nerve discomfort is brought on and exacerbated by the constant pressure and flexing of the piriformis muscle. This muscle runs onder the lower section of the spine and helps flex and move the hips. This muscle is extremely likely to be affected by arthritis or other conditions. Any of these can also bring upon sciatica and the pain associated with it.

The cause of the pain is really difficult to pinpoint sometimes, but your doctor will evaluate your medical charts and history, as well as give you a full physical exam. Sometimes x-rays and MRI are also needed.

It\'s a good idea to run through any and all of these tests that your doctor orders as one of them is likely to reveal the source of the problem. Always bare in mind the importance of pinpointing the cause or underlying factor first, so you can work towards elimination. There are many causes of sciatic nerve pain.

There are ways to cure and completely eliminate sciatic nerve inflammation and pain. You will find that the cure does not come overnight, but if you are willing to do a little research, follow your doctor\'s advice, and make a few lifestyle changes, you can be pain free for good.

I talk a lot about sciatic nerve pain and how I found the cure over at my blog, sciatica treatments. You can read about how I found the sciatica cure there also.
