Omega Daily Rheumatoid Arthritis Relief

Omega Daily Rheumatoid Arthritis Relief

Author: Andrew John

The most debilitating form of arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Unlike other forms of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder. It attacks joints and internal organs, causing severe inflammations and pain.

The most important thing in all RA treatments is detecting this disease as soon as possible. Unlike other forms of arthritis, RA does most of the damage during first twenty-four months. As there is no cure to this disease, the best thing we can hope for is to stop its progress as soon as possible or at least alleviate the pain and minimize the secondary damage.

There are several drugs that can be used to reduce the effects of rheumatoid arthritis. First, there are NSAID - Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs such as acetylsalicylic acid and ibuprofen. Most of them are available over the counter, but in more severe cases you may want to ask your doctor for stronger NSAID that are prescription-only. Other means of reducing the symptoms of RA is increasing the intake of Omega-3 fatty acids by taking Omega Daily food supplement or simply by eating more fish oil. These nutrients are known to decrease periods of morning stiffness as well as for reducing inflammations.

Biologics are another branch of anti-RA drugs. They work by modifying the body\'s reactions in an attempt to stop the immune system from attacking the joints. They are quite effective, but their price is much above the level of an average citizen - especially that this treatment is covered only by the most expensive policies.

For those who can\'t afford Biologics, there is also much cheaper alternative: DMARD (Disease-Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs). While they are very slow-acting, they effectively slow down the RA progress, reducing the damage it does to the bone and joint.

There is also one thing you definitely should start doing as soon as you learn about your RA. This thing is... swimming! The reason for that is simple: you have to strengthen your muscles to limit the stress put to the joints during everyday movements, but you must not overexert your joints as it will only bring more damage to the joints. Swimming is certainly the best low-impact sport to do - it affects all muscles while minimizing the chance of damaging the joints.

Only in the United States there are more than two million people affected by this disease. While it affect women more often than men and the susceptibility to RA is thought to be hereditary, don\'t discard it even if you\'re a male with no RA history in your family. It can happen to anyone, anytime - if you suspect you have RA, contact your doctor ASAP. Every week matters, so don\'t delay your visit!
